The organelle responsible for producing ribosomes is the nucleolus. Located within the nucleus of eukaryotic cells, the nucleolus synthesizes ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and assembles ribosomal subunits. These subunits are then transported out to the cytoplasm where they combine to form functional ribosomes, crucial for protein synthesis in all living cells.
