Joan of Arc's life was defined by her extraordinary role during the Hundred Years' War between France and England. In 1429, she claimed to have received visions instructing her to support Charles VII and lead French troops to victory. Her leadership at crucial battles, such as the Siege of Orléans, invigorated French forces and altered the course of the war. Captured in 1430, Joan was tried for heresy and executed in 1431. She became a symbol of courage, faith, and French national pride, later canonized as a saint.
